Coachella is happening as you read this and every other music blog is doing some sort of craziness to bring you the best of their line-up. But not me! I'm not going so I could careless (I will be watching dredg's and Portishead's broadcasted performance on the Coachella website though). But I know someone who is going, ex-Strata/Limousines lead singer Eric Victorino! Eric and his band mates recently had the privilege to open for dredg at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, which I believe was their debut performance. Eric was so kind as to answer the Kuestionnaire and tell us how frickin' excited he is about Coachella.
Enjoy!

1. Of all the bands/artists in your CD/record collection, which one do you own the most albums by?
radiohead and bright eyes.

2. What's in your record/CD player right now?
nova on a nocturn by the good life.

3. What song would you say sums you up?
it would be a depressing thing to be summed up by one song - i think my favorite song ever might be climbing up the walls by radiohead.

4. What's your favorite local band?
picture atlantic is my favorite unsigned bay area band, but dredg would be tops if they could still be considered local.

5. What was the last show you attended?
i'm going to coachella this week - last show i went to was my first show with my new band the limousines - but it was with dredg, and i watched them so i guess that counts as attendance.

6. What was the greatest show you've ever been to?
front row, leaning on the stage watching Bjork from a few feet away. amazing.

7. What's the worst band you've ever seen in concert?
that's not really a question i feel comfortable answering, i'd hate to see my name in someone's answer to this one so i'll skip it.

8. What show are you looking forward to?
death cab, cold war kids, prince, mgmt, so many great bands at coachella.

9. What is your favorite band shirt?
my flaming lips new years eve shirt - there's a purple girl with her ass in the air and an explosion of light bursting from her vagina. epic.

10. What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?
conor oberst or tim kasher.

11. Metal question - Jeans and Leather vs. Cracker Jack clothes?
i'm not sure what cracker jack clothes are but they sound more breathable so i'll swing that way.

12. Sabbath or solo Ozzy?
solo ozzy, just for sentimental reasons.

13. Commodores or solo Lionel Ritchie?
lionel ritchie man!

14. Punk rock, hip hop or heavy metal?
i think punk rock is the safe bet but there are punk bands that have nothing to do with the punk ethos, while there are hip hop artists out there that are way more punk rock than anyone - doing their own thing - thinking independently of the flock - that's what punk is.

15. Name 4 flawless albums:
ok computer
nevermind
digital ash in a digital urn
the ugly organ

16. When did you realize you were a music geek?
i don't know if i am. i love music more than almost anything, but i really don't know shit. it's embarrassing.

17. What was the greatest decade for music?
2008-2018- there's so much going on, bands are becomming independent of the major label philosophy - i think it's going to be great to see what happens in the next ten years.

18. Any favorite music-related videos/DVDs you own?
the clash dvd is amazing.

19. Do you like Journey?
i try not to but i cant help it.

20. What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
fight club score by the dust brothers. by far.

21. What's the crappiest CD/record/etc. you've ever bought?
my own...

22. Do you prefer vinyl or CDs?
i prefer vinyl, in theory - but i have way more CDs than vinyl... %90 of the time i'm listening to my ipod.

Eric
and Nozebleed (The Limousines) are currently working on their debut album which will infest your headphones with their electricalyricaldancefolk-core.
For now enjoy this recent video from their GAMH performance (Eric looks so happy!).

If you've been itching your ears for some new dredg; go to their myspace page and listen to what sounds like the whole album on one track. Also they have been so kind as to let us listen to an excerpt from the song Quotes. This is a day that will be remembered by the Gods of Awesomeness.

In other news; I'll be attending the San Francisco Outside Lands Festival. If moving out to California wasn't enough to excite me, this just made me poo myself in joy. Not only is dredg, Radiohead, Sean Hayes, Cool Kids, Broken Social Scene, Sharon Jones, Beck, and many many other brilliant acts performing at this gig, but 19 more acts are to be announced. I'll be posting a few of my favorite songs from these acts in weeks to come but for now I'll give you this rare dredg b-side from their last album; Catch Without Arms.

Art-rock band, dredg, has released a brand new track entitled "Push Away" on their Myspace. While recording and tracking their new yet-untitled 4th album, they have been busy touring the West Coast (along with a slot in this years Coachella Festival) and raffling off various paintings done by members of the band. If you are remotely aware of dredg's artwork, you might feel inclined to go to dredg.fuzz.com and send them a private message with the subject line "Cookieclock." Winners will be contacted in ealy March.

Last year was quite a year for new releases. I practically shat myself over the new M.I.A. and Jonah Matranga records, this year may cause equal or greater shating. Okay, enough of measuring poo. This year has promised new records from Portishead, dredg, The Mars Volta, and Nada Surf. But the one release that I am holding my excitement for is the new Glassjaw album. After seeing them perform their new tunes a year ago and hearing live recordings of recent shows (along with studio recording buzz), I am significantly hyped up for this record. Here are some live recordings of Glassjaw and dredg and a new track from Nada Surf.

(If anyone is pissed that I posted these tracks, don’t hesitate to politely ask me to remove them.)
